Autumn 2
On Tuesday 3rd December, Y3 visited the Air Raid Shelters in Stockport. The children were taken back in time to Wartime Britain in 1941, where they arrived as evacuees in Stockport to be safe for the duration of WWII.
During the morning the children learnt how to be good evacuees. This included the children learning about the Air Raid precautions and took part in their very own gas mask drill.
During the afternoon the children then went underground into the Air Raid Shelters. Whilst underground they were given lots of information about ‘Life on the Home Front’ including what it was like when there was a Blackout.
The children had a fantastic day and the adults were extremely impressed with all their knowledge and understanding of World War II which they had remembered from their History lessons.
