Class Information
P.E.
Indoor PE: Thursday afternoon.
Outdoor PE: Monday afternoon.
We are very grateful to Stockport County FC, who have supplied us with PE kits for every child. The kits include a bag, t-shirt, shorts, jumper and jogging bottoms. We will send the kits home each holiday for washing. Some children prefer to wear skin tight leggings for indoor PE and children are welcome to do so, but these must be provided by home. If your child wears earrings and is unable to remove them on their own, then they should be removed in the morning before school or plasters will need to be sent in with your child so that they can cover their earrings before PE. Children with long hair will need a hair tie for P.E.
Forest School
Wednesday
Forest School is on a Wednesday afternoon. Children are encouraged to wear their Forest School clothing to school on a Wednesday (including a long sleeve top, long bottoms such as leggings or tracksuit bottoms and suitable footwear) and bring a change of footwear for the rest of the day.
Homework
A weekly spelling assignment, linked to the weekly spelling pattern, will also be put on Ed Shed (Spelling Shed) for the children to complete. In addition, we ask that children keep practising their Maths number work regularly on Numbots. The more your child practices their spelling and number work, the better they will become at both. Log ins are provided to the children for both Spelling Shed and Numbots.
Reading
At Whitehill, we want children to develop a love of reading. You can help at home by listening to your child read and encouraging them to read every night. The more they read, the more they will become confident and fluent at reading. Boom Reader is a digital reading record which allows you to log your child's reading activity.
Click on the link to access Boom Reader: https://go-read.co.uk/parents/
Reading books are changed every Tuesday and Friday.
Class Dojo
Class Dojo is a way for teachers to encourage students and contact parents about their child's progress in class. It can be used online or downloaded as an app on iOS and Android devices. Please ask if you require a copy of your log in.
Daily Snack
We are currently providing the children with a daily snack which consists of a piece of fruit. Children can also bring money in to purchase rice cakes (20p) and bread sticks (10p).
Educational Visits
RE Trip to St John's Church, 11th and 12th December
We visited St John’s Church in Dukinfield to learn about how Christians celebrate Christmas. The vicar, Mr Hayes, told us all about the importance of advent and all the celebrations that happen in the church over the festive period. It was fascinating to discover that the church is over 150 years old! We also spotted lots of different features in the church, such as the altar, lectern, stained glass windows, baptism font and pulpit.
